Is A Repeated Second Dose Of Rabies Vaccination Required For A Bat Bite?
Question: Last month their was a Bat exposure so i took 5anti rabies vaccine that completed on 6-7-16..
After 2days while i was sitting outside a Bat flew near by my Body,Later i saw their was a cut mark in my Body but i was not sure it was due to bat or due to hot weather..
But after 4 days i took Booster dose of Abhay rab.
Then doctor said to take 2 booster dose one in 12-7-16 and 2nd dose on 15-7-16.
1.After taking the first booster dose on 12-7-16 i went to a function in field at night,Later i saw their was a cut mark in my leg but i am not sure how its was,but i worried is it dog nail that i didnt noticed..So the Next dose of 15-7-16 will protect me or i have to start for 0 day again???
2.Yesterday 15-7-16 i took the 2nd booster dose at 1-2pm,but at evening at 6pm while i was riding my bike a dog came and collapse in my bike..Now i am very much worried if the dogs nail had touched my legs,though i was wearing shoes but no shocks..I checked my whole Leg i found some old cuts i am sending pic to you...
Q-Sir again i need vaccine??
Sir if the dog was rabid and its nail touched in my legs then again i have to take booster or the 4-5hours earlier dose will protect me??
i have heared that if some one has taken full course of vaccine then it protects him for new exposure till few months and booster dose is not required..

Brief answer....you are fully protected against rabies and hence no need for further vaccination now.

I have read your query and understand your concern.
There was no need of any booster which were given to you on 12th and 15th.
In fact,as per WHO guidelines,a repeat two dose schedule of rabies vaccine is advised after three months of last dose,if bitten again.
Earlier guide lines were to give repeat doses after one year of last dose.
Since you were bitten within few days of last dose,There is no need of any booster now.
There is no need to get tensed. Just relax as nothing would happen to you.
No need for any fresh vaccination at this moment.

Sir i want to ask few questions for knowledge.
Q1-If anyone is taking 3-5 course of Abhay Rab vaccine and in between if he exposed to another bite by rabid animal then he have to start the vaccine course from Day0 or just finish the previous schedule and it will protect him??
I mean some one is in course of 3 vaccine schedule and he has taken Day0 and Day3 vaccine and Again a Dog/Monkey bite him then he has to start the vaccine schedule from 0day,or have to take 2 booster dose or he can just take the Day7 vaccine and it will protect him????

Hello,
No need to take any booster if you are bitten in between the course of anti rabies vaccine.
If you are bitten again within a span of 3 months of finishing your anti rabies vaccination course,you don't need a booster.
You need two doses of booster if bitten after 3 months of last injection.

No need to take any booster if you are bitten in between the course of anti rabies vaccine.
