Is A Heart Rate Of 50 Considered To Be Dangerously Low?

default
Posted on Thu, 25 Jun 2015
Question: Is the heart rate of 50 dangerously low? I've taken my blood pressure with a home machine for the last five days. The heart rate has been 56,the first day, 52, the second day, 54, the third day, 52, the fourth day, and, just now, the fifth day, 50. I changed from 10 mg. of the blood pressure medicine, Benicar, to5 mg Bystolic, as prescribed by my heart M.D., about 8 days ago. I started 200 mg. of Ibuprofen for osteoarthritis about four days ago. I took one the first and third days and two, the second and fourth days. Today I took 3, as advised by my orthopedic M.D.

Brief Answer:
No

Detailed Answer:
No it's not dangerous and not even abnormal. for anyone who is on treatment with betablocker, a heart rate around 50bpm norm rather than abnormal. you should be concerned only if you giddiness or falls or profound weakness. Otherwise no issues.

Thank you. I've also been cold, expecially my hands. Does that change anything?
