Posted on Mon, 25 Apr 2016
Question: Hi Doctor ,
I had a XXXXXXX 5 minutes sexual activity in New Zealand on 21st of nov, 2015 with a sex worker. . She used condom but not sure about quality. I ejaculated with in 2 minutes . Not sure if condom broke though I noticed that seamens was present in condom . While penitration kissed her nipple couple of times not noticed any milk type secration from her breast.
After that I appeared for below tests .
1. 5 weeks - rapid test using bioinc kit from local pathology lab.
2. 6 weeks - cmia using abott architecht from Dr . XXXXXXX and trivedi lab , XXXXXXX
3. 11 weeks - cmia using abott architecht from Dr. XXXXXXX and trivedi lab , XXXXXXX
All result came non reactive. I thought that my stress ful part over but now I am seeing pimple like rash on upper hand and some ulcers in my mouth . I did teeth scaling 4 days back. I am also facing irritation in my anus , checked it seems that a small red bumps with near to rectrum .

I am pretty worried if I got infected with hiv , not able to maintain normal sex life with my wife . Please suggest if I can take my test results conclusive .

One humble request , please don't disclose anything in public forum. It should be purely confidencial .
Forgot to mention , rapid test was done using tridot method after 5 weeks .

Brief Answer:
You are free from HIV infection as per the test report done after 11 weeks

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
You had protected sex. You had seen the semen inside the condom after the sexual act. So the condom seems intact throughout the act. Kissing the nipple is not a risky activity as far as HIV is concerned.
Your non-reactive CMIA HIV test after 11 weeks (after the window period) clearly ruled out the possibility of HIV infection. Your test report is almost conclusive. Forget about that incident and you can resume your normal sex life with your wife.
Best wishes.

Thank you doctor for the valuable feedback .
Why are you saying almost ? Is there any risk ?
Are those symptoms explained before not related hiv ?

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are unlikely to be due to HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Window period for HIV is around 6-8 weeks, can be extended up to 12 weeks. So the tests for HIV 1 and 2 Antibodies are considered more conclusive by 12 weeks. You had your last test 11 weeks after the exposure. Even though it is highly reliable, can be considered conclusive by 12 weeks. So I put as almost free from from HIV infection.
Your symptoms are unlikely to be due to HIV as they are not specific to HIV.

Brief Answer:
You are already free from HIV infection.

Detailed Answer:
HI,
Welcome back.
I don't have much doubt about your HIV status. But if you want a still more conclusive result you can opt for another test after 12 weeks.
