Question: Hi Dr.

I am a 31 year old male and I am very scared about the recent sexual encounters that I have had, please let me explain my situation.
1) On 8 XXXXXXX early morning, I met a woman and we indulged in a lot of deep french kissing, mutual masturbation, received oral sex and condom protected sex. While withdrawing my penis, I found that the condom had come off, since I had lost erection. I asked her to get tested with 4th generation test on 11 XXXXXXX and it came back negative.
2) On 15 XXXXXXX I again indulged in deep french kissing, received oral sex, mutual masturbation and condom protected vaginal sex. Condom was intact after this encounter.
3) On 25 XXXXXXX I undertook an HIV RNA qualitative test and it came back "not detected". On this day I happened to meet her again and we did french kissing and I fingered her vagina, NO sex.
4) On 15 Feb I got tested with 4th generation HIV test which came back negative.

I am now feeling a bit feverish but no temperature. I am scared of possible HIV infection. Please help me and advise if it is possible to get infected in my situation. Do you recommend getting tested for deep kissing and fingering (no visible blood or sores in either situation, but our dental health is poor).

Brief Answer:
You are free from HIV 1 infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
You had protected vaginal intercourse. Oral sex carries a low risk for HIV. French kissing and fingering had anegligible risk.
You had your last 4th generation HIV test 3 weeks after your last encounter and it came nonreactive. It ascertains that you are free from HIV 1 infection.
Moreover your sex partner's test on January 11th also came nponreactive. It confirmed that she is HIV free (if her exposure within last 3 months are not infectious or had sexual abstinence during these days).
Feeling of feverish can occur to anybody at any point of time. It is unlikely to be due to HIV infection.

Thanks a lot Dr. XXXXXXX just two final questions:

1) As you notice I did HIV RNA test on 25 XXXXXXX which was 9 days and a few hours after my last sexual encounter, and 16 days after my first encounter, which came back "not detected". My question is how reliable is HIV RNA test at 9 days and a few hours?

2) Do you recommend that I should get tested for the deep kissing and fingering encounter that I had on 25 XXXXXXX ?

Please guide, thanks once again
