Brief Answer:
Keeping the Uric acid in normal limit is must

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for posting
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. It is must to keep the uric acid in normal limit as higher value may cause diabetes, heart and kidney problem in the long run.
I hope you are following the dietary restriction as advised by your treating doctor?

Please tell me about the suffering like joint pain, low backache or anything else, if you have? And I would also wish to know what your current concerns are (we can discuss specifically in those lines).

Since, it’s borderline case of uric acid I hope normal level can be maintained by plenty of fluids, dietary restriction and exercises.

Looking forward to your reply to help you further.
Take care

That is what i feel that it is on border line and i can reduce or maintain the uric acid with dietry control. But doctor is advising me to take medicine for 2 months which is Allopurinol tablet 100 mg twice daily. Does this medication has any side effects if i take this for 2 months or i should first try it with dietry control?

I dont have any joint pain or low backache? I am a regular badminton player and have athletic body. Due to excessive play of badminton sometimes i do have muscle pains. Also i have metatarsalgia problem in my left foot for which i am using metatarsal pad.

My concern is whether to take medicine or not?

Brief Answer:
I feel you can do without medicine

Detailed Answer:
Hello
It's good to see you.
I have gone through your reply and feel that you can do well without medicine. Having said that it needs to be monitored by regular uric acid level. Though allopurinol is safe to have but each drug has its own side effect however minimum it may be.
My suggestion for metatarsalgia would be to have vitamin D (Sachet calcirol 60,000) once a week for 3 months, then once a month for next 9 month. This should be taken with fatty food item like a glass of milk for better absorption. You may get vitamin D level rechecked at 4 month interval.
Hope this helps in making a decision.

Thanks your suggestion well noted for uric acid.

But for metatarsalgia... does it is linked with vitamin D deficiency. I have never checked my vitamin D levels. Do i need to check vitamin D first and then go for Vitamin D or i can take vitamin D without test.

Brief Answer:
You may start the vitamin D

Detailed Answer:
Hello
You are welcome.

After getting a prescription from your local doctor, you could start the vitamin D straight way as its deficiency is very common.

If you want to check vitamin D level, you may. There is no harm in checking.

As the blood level to have any toxic effect of excess of vitamin D is very high, one can start the vitamin D as advised.

It was pleasure talking to you. Hope I answered your query. For any future query you can reach me directly by logging at http://bit.ly/drmchugh
