Brief Answer:
you need investigations for diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your query on HCM.
In my opinion you should not take wysolone like this. As it is steroid and in long run causes dangerous side effects and you are experiencing few of them like weight gain and facial puffiness. High blood pressure , diabetes, skin problems, osteoporosis etc are other side effects of long term oral steroids.
So stop it as soon as possible.
I advice you to consult pulmonologist and get done Chest x ray and Pulmonary Function Test for diagnosis.
And by your history I think you are having cough variant asthma, as you responded well with steroids.
But PFT is must for the diagnosis.
Alternative to oral steroid is inhaled cortico steroid (ICS).
The benefit of ICS are
1. Very low dose required as compare to oral steroids.
2. Organ specific action.
3. No systemic side effects.
4. Treatment of choice for cough variant asthma is ICS. Discuss about this your doctor.
So to sum up, I advice you to consult pulmonologist and get done chest x ray and PFT. Discuss about possibility of cough variant asthma. And stop wysolone.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. wish you good health. Thanks.
