default
Posted on Wed, 22 Feb 2017
Question: I am depressed and use paxidep cr 12.5 mg for the last one year. My husband and i had unprotected sex and im now worried that i may be pregnant with pre cum fluid (he did not finish). The first day of my last period was XXXXXXX 7th and my cycle is a bit long - i think 32-34 days. Please advise if i should do somethig about this or just wait? Should i continue taking paxidep? I read on the net that it causes heart defects

Brief Answer:
I think you can switch to fluoxetine

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks again for using Healthcaremagic.

Although we have discussed everything related to paxidep and your depression over a period of time but I feel you should start Fluoxetine at this time.

The reason for recommending fluoxetine is as follows
1. It is more safe in pregnancy
2. It will help you in withdrawal symptoms of paxidep
3. The weight issue will be no more as fluoxetine is weight neutral
4. It acts in similar way as paxidep and equally effective

Now regarding the chance of pregnancy I like to know the date of intercourse as it is just a possibility. The chance is less with precum but possible if the intercourse took place around ovulation time.

Regarding the heart defects I already communicated about persistent pulmonary hypertension in unborn baby and whatever you read over the internet is correct although the chances are very low.

I hope this assists you further.
Thanks again.

Yes - date of intercourse was 26th - according to my calculation it was a fertile period.

Brief Answer:
Yes it was fertile period

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for clarification.

I am convinced with your calculation and there is good possibility that it was fertile period.

So at this stage pregnancy can not be ruled out.

Although I must assure you that there is no risk to your baby as implantation takes time and it is yet to happen there in uterus.

Thanks again.

Brief Answer:
It may be for the good

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for follow up.

Never worry before posting your questions as it is ok to seek help when you are in need.

There are enough sperm in premium to make anybody pregnant provided it is during fertile period. We do not get all information correct on the internet because the information is authored mostly by layperson with little knowledge of subject.

We will not be able to detect pregnancy for next 5-7 days but I think it is time to take in positive spirit. As we have discussed last week that there are weight gain issues with paxidep and I think this can be addressed while having optimistic attitude.

Thanks again.
