Brief Answer:
HIV transmission through a wipe is a remote possibility

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

HIV is a highly fragile virus and can not live outside the body or body fluids not more than few seconds.
It can not withstand dryness and outside environmental factors. So HIV transmission through a wipe over a open wound is a remote possibility. If it passes through this means, then the HIV burden in this world would be many fold higher than this present situation. So nothing to worry.

Brief Answer:
You will not get HIV through used kleenex wipe.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.

Even if you had used a soiled Kleenex to wipe your fresh wound, then also the chances of getting HIV in this way is a remote possibility.
I can understand your concern about the same. Already you had consulted many specialists through HCM. Whatever consoling words given to you, they would not put you back to normal. I suggest you to have HIV test done and rule out the remote possibility then only you will feel better.Till then, you can get a counselling from a psychiatrist as you were not able to sleep.

Brief Answer:
Test after 12 weeks ruled out both HIV 1 and 2

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome back.

Three types of tests are available.
1.Antigen based tests--- P24, DNA PCR, RNA PCR etc. Becomes positive within a weeks time after the high risk contact in the presence of an infection, but more conclusive by 4 weeks. Rules out only HIV 1 infection which is 99% common throughout the world except in certain parts of XXXXXXX
2, Antibody based test--- ELISA, Western blot test, Rapid tests etc,
Becomes positive after the widow period ( 12 weeks) in the presence of an infection. Rules out both HIV 1 and 2.
3. Combination of both - COMBO/DUO test
If you could wait for 12 weeks and have your test, then it will be more conclusive and ruled out both HIV 1 and 2 simultaneously.
Trust that you will not get the infection by using tissue wipe on the wound. You can wait till 12 weeks and have the test. If you are having problem in waiting, then consult a physician and seek their guidance for testing and to calm your mind.
