Posted on Wed, 10 May 2017
Question: Sir,my high risk exposure was in Nov 2013 and i am concerned about hiv infection,i already consulted Dr S XXXXXXX hiv/AIDS specialist at healthcare magic and i am writing to you because i feel its always better to have a second opinion.i feel that it will calm me down.Dr s XXXXXXX already assured me that i am hiv free and i dont need any further testing but i dont know why i still have some anxiety about hiv. My high risk exposure was in Nov 2013 and my 1 st test( tridot 3 Rd generation)was in may 2015(approx 1.5 year after exposure),2 nd test July 2016( 4 rth generation ag/ ab test) and 3 Rd test was in March 2017 by the same 4 rth generation test and all were non- reactive. And all along I was on several medications like ORGAMED/MEPRATE/PROVERA/DRONIS 30/METFORMIN/SYNTHROID/CLOMIPHENE CITRATE/ANTI- HISTAMINES /PRENATALS(folic acid and vit d supplements),ZINDA TILISMATH(UNANI HERBAL MEDICINE FOR COUGH AND COLD) for conditions that i have like PCOS,HYPOTHROIDISM,INFERTILITY AND POLLEN ALLERGY .I was on all these drugs ON AND OFF from XXXXXXX 2007 till MARCH 2017 (and my exposure was in Nov 2013)some at the time of testing and some inbetween tests. So I am doubtful about my test results because if my pattern of drug consumption and the drugs I am on is producing false negative results. Is there any chance of my test results turning positive after 3.3 year of exposure due to my pattern of drug consumption? ARE MY TEST RESULTS CONCLUSIVE? DO I NEED ANY FURTHER TESTING? DO I NEED TO GET A PCR (VIRAL LOAD)TEST ? PLEASE ANSWER IN DETAIL SIR.thank you..

Brief Answer:
There is no need of any further test. You are healthy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.
I can understand your deep concern regarding HIV infection after the incidence.

Interpreting each and every detail of your query and analyzing each fact let me reassure you fully that you don't have any chance of HIV infection.

In any of the case of probable HIV infection the antibodies are formed within few weeks of exposure. these can be then detected within maximum of three months of exposure.

Your first test done in 2015 was sufficient to declare that you were free from HIV infection. there was no need of any further testing.

There is no effect of any medications which you have taken on the testing of HIV or its infection potential.

I reassure you again that you don't require any more tests.

Allay all your fears and live as healthy life.

With good health wishes.
