Is ESR Value Of 25 A Cause For Concern?
Question: Hi
I was having cough from July 3 2015. At that time, doctor suggested to have ESR, CBC and X Ray. There is nothing reported expect WBC count is high. Doctor prescribed me antibiotic for 7 days. After that I am still having cough with mucus.
I have done the same tests again where CBC report is normal but ESR is 25. Is this sign of some bigger infection.

Since your Chest X-Ray is normal then it's unlikely to be a big infection as you are feeling.
Initially you had respiratory tract infection that we had discussed.
Your previous high WBC count (TLC) represents that you had infection which got treated.
Now persiting cough with sputum production indicated that this could be Allergic cough or could be chronic sinusitis.
ESR is an insignificant market of inflammation and infection.
I would advice you following:
1. Steam inhalation twice daily.
2. Anti Allergic like a combination of Levocetrizine and Montelukast once daily.
You should get a Xray Sinus water view done and write back to me.
