Question: I had bladder cancer 10 years ago and have annual check ups . 3 weeks ago I had a cystoctomy and they found a recurrence 3mm , last recurrannce was two years ago . I am awaiting consultation and all previous 3 over last 10 years have been superficial . I am concerned as been asked to attend ct scan. Can't get any answers from nhs until consultation on 28th October . Is ct scan standard procedure or did biopsy show it was invasive ... Any help please

Brief Answer:
Yes CT Scan is the Gold Standard to see the metastatic disease.

Detailed Answer:
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you to my virtual clinic HCM!
I have carefully worked through your case, and can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns today and will put my best efforts to get you out of this situation.

Biopsy only shows the histologic structure of the specimen i.e what is it made of (the cell types and the their grade of cancer-the level of differentiation from normal to cancerous cells).

But to see if the tumor has spread to other parts of the body or not (the metastasis) we have to go for the CT Scanning. It shows if there are metastasis of the tumor or not.

Have a wonderful time ahead. Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have any further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you in no time. If satisfied here, please give a generous five star rating to help us assist our patients in a better way; and, please don't forget to 'Close This Discussion'.
For any disease you have, a timely follow-up after sometime regarding the treatment efficacy and to see if there is any need to change the treatment options is very necessary. So keep a follow up to see how you doing (Write down my name in the start of your question always & I will be with you sooner).

very warm regards doctor, i feel a kind of ticklish irritation just at the junction of bladder opening and urethra and iam never able to empty my bladder completely.every time after micturition i have to wait for another minute to empty the bladder by urinating certain drops of urine atlast.these last drops too dont get out of the bladder completely.just when iam about to finish the urination i feel that urethra closes before iam totally able to empty my bladder and applying pressure too...doesnt work.it has been my condition from September 2005.and till now the conditions have improved though but the problem still persists.i have warts like swelled Fordyce s spots on my scrotum for many years.iam 22 years.i got my urine tested in 2007 from a best urologist in India(from AIIMS).he was straight forward and said i had no infection and no stones after he read the results of the urine test.still i said i feel pressure in bladder he gave me Uromax capsules and antibiotics for 14 days after which the problem is still exactly the same.my father was reluctant like hell to take me to a doctor and now after he took me once he s not going to take me again. should i go again myself and is it baldder cancer or will it develop into cancer??please answer as immidiately as possible

My 90 y/o father had a 2nd cystoscopy and they found 2 bladder cysts which the doctor wants removed as OP. He has no symptoms. The last time his BP was 185 and the hospital nurses had a hard time getting it down. He also has small vessel disease which can cause a stroke. Is this procedure necessary

My name is Brenda, 5'7" 180 lbs. I was diagnosed in 2004. Presented with only the left ear affected. Blood Work sent to Mayo Clinic, confirmed Anti Collagen II. In 2006 had some nasal issues from RP nothing since. I have had microscopic hematuria since 1999 ranging from 2+ to 6+, about 20 different urinalysis and never an infection. Occasionally protein 5+. Had a urine cytology in 2006, negative for malignant cells, had a cytology in Feb 2010, negative for malignant cells. Had cytology 3 weeks ago, atypical urothelial. Have had symptoms similar to Interstial Cystitis for 5 to 6 years. Seems to flare at different times. Good for months at a time. Currently in some type of flair. Urinating 15-20 times a day, lots of burning but urinalysis done on Monday just came. back with blood 3+, no infection. Had cystoscope in 2008 looked good no lesions but bladder was slightly inflamed. I have another cystoscope scheduled for July 18th. I am extremely nervous about the Atypical Urothelial cells but have some comfort that I am still here with hematuria for 12 years. Do you think the Atypical Cells could be caused by what appear to be symptoms of Interstial Cystitis, or do you think it is likely I have bladder cancer. I am going insane waiting. Only one urologist is our town of 20,000.00

I had bladder cancer and underwent a surgery to remove the bladder. A neao bladder was created that allowed me to urinate normally. Some prostate was also removed. Since surgery I have lost erection which is causing depression. What can be done to regain erection. Viagra did not work. Thanks a million.
