Question: How much Ativan can be safely given to combat an episode of psycosis attack at present 1mg am 1mg pm only works for several hours

I always keep it under 6mg daily. If 2mg daily is not enough, there is enough room to increase progressively up to about 6mg. I will recommend that you talk with the doctor to get some more added and titrated so as to identify the right dosage and help control this psychosis all day and not just for a few hours.
