Question: I have bad add and 40 mg of Ritalin are not working so want to try 30 mg adderall twice aday

Since ritalin is not working despite the dose increase I endorse your idea to try different medications. Although I like to put word of caution as you need only 30 mg in the beginning and not 60 mg from the day one. In case 30 mg do not work the dose can be increased by 10 mg every week with maximum dose of 70 mg per day.
