Question: I was sick in March with a virus(not sure if covid)anyways had upperrespitory infection and went on Zithromax and prednisone. The following week I got terrible right quadrant stomach pain that radiates to my back. Went to er had bloodwork and ct scan. My alt level was 62 and total protein slightly elevated. The dr put my on Prilosec and I followed up with dr in a couple of months. Had bloodwork in my and alt level was 80. My pain has gotten worse in my abdomen so they did more blood work and now my alt is 100 and ast is 47. Just concerned because pain is getting worse.

The only thing that the ultrasound showed was some bowel gas. I am just wondering would I get pain from my liver with those elevations?

Brief Answer:
More data is necessary

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Thank You for the query.

Have You had any other tests like amylase, lipase, bilirubin levels?
Such pain is usually caused by some obstruction either in pancreatic duct or bile ducts. Acute pancreatitis can be the case as well.
Can You also attach CT scan result?

I'm looking forward to hear from You

i have attached latest bloodwork. the liver wnzymes has raised more. i also attached the ct scan and ultrasound. had thyroid and pth test also and both were normal. i took minocycline 2 years ago for acne and have not take it for over a year and a half. i just read where minocycline can cause autoimmune hepatitia and i am nervous about that. could that happen so long after being done with it or is that something that would have happened while takong it?

Brief Answer:
Minocyline taken 2 years ago has no impact nowadays.

Detailed Answer:
First of all please note that your liver enzymes are only slightly elevated. In case of serious liver inflammation this numbers are usually in tausends than in hundreds.
Secondly, it takes up to few month for the liver to regenerate. But not years. So anything taken years ago has no impact on the liver nowadays.

I suggest You to avoid any drugs affecting liver especially acethamimophen/paracetamole and alcohol for a month and redo liver tests.

Your pain should be investigated if it is still present. Please have blood work including amylase, lipase, GGTP, AP (alkaline phosphatase), CA 19-9 and CEA.

Gastroacopy should be also considered as the next step.
