Brief Answer:
Your TSH level is still normal- you can repeat it in 3 months to be sure

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for asking at "Ask a Doctor" service.

I would advice you to repeat TSH in 3 months. Because it is lower than your usual norm but is not as low to be considered abnormal it is important to follow it in time. This will help diagnose any hyperthyroidism that is starting but has not yet caused full laboratory picture and also will confirm the values of TSH (sometimes lab findings might come low but are not necessarily low- human error and sometimes calibration of the machines contribute to this)

So to conclude I would say:
- your TSH level does not fulfill the criteria to be considered low and I understand the concern with the variation within the individuals but this approach might not prove to be the safest
- it is important though that you repeat the test in 3 months to confirm the result you had now and also to diagnose any possible hyperthyroidism that might be developing meanwhile
- if TSH comes out under 0.5 then other tests like thyroid schintigraphy might be needed to identify the cause of the hyperthyroidism (toxic adenoma or Graves disease) and other tests as the doctors will find necessary.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
