Question: I have been asking you questions before and have finally gave in and called out from work even with the new attendance policy. My United Health Care will not cover urgent care or unessassry Emergency Room Visits. I have an apt with my Primary's associate tomorrow at 8 am. The current symptoms are straight diarrehea with mucous of the nose and throat tinged with blood. Not sure about fever as I cannot find the thermometer. Body aches and pain and stomach hurting.

Brief Answer:
The flu probably.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

your symptoms are consistent with the diagnosis of influenza which may present with a multitude of symptoms (including the ones you've mentioned) although such a specific diagnosis requires clinical examination and lab tests in order to be confirmed. The temperature is a very important piece of information. The lack of fever is usually reassuring. What concerns me in your case is the presence of blood. Blood in the sputum may occur during the course of pneumonia but other less serious infections are also possible (even the common cold).

So in conclusion, I believe that a visit to your doctor is appropriate. If your healthcare coverage includes acute disorders then you shouldn't - normally - be charged... Until then you can take some paracetamol (acetaminophen) for the body aches. I can't recommend any treatment for diarrhea at this point. Reducing fat intake as well as milk and fiber may help in some cases of diarrhea.

I hope you find my comments helpful!
