Question: I have a quick question. I had to visit my doctor for med refils twice in one week due to error on my script.
after the last visit I noticed I felt achy. I have a fever of 99F while on tylenol but I don't have a runny nose or sore throat.
I'm just really achy. Is it likely I have the flu

Brief Answer:
it may or may not be, please share a bit more details...

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service...
I've gone through your query in details...
I can understand your concern...

Kindly, let me know a few more details so that I can assist you specifically:

-Since when is this happening?

-Are you having any cough/heaviness around the head?

-Please mention where is the ache? Is it a headache/ body ache/ joint pains/any rash over the body?

-Any other complaints, any problem during urination? Any Nausea/Vomiting?

-Have you taken any medications already (apart from the Tylenol)?

Please note, 99°F is not a very significant finding, and can hardly be termed as fever, so it may be due to the impending flu, or even due to some other reasons too...

Please let me know these details so that I can assist you further...

Awaiting...

Take Care
Kind Regards

It started yesterday afternoon.
My aches are entire body aches.
No rash.
No headache really, maybe slight here and there.
No neck stiffness or pain when touching chin to chest.
Fever is now 99.5F while on Tylenol.
Urine is normal color and clear.
No nausea.
I do feel some sinus achiness in my cheeks but no congestion.

Brief Answer:
could be the impending flu then...

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,
Thanks for the details...

Well, it could be due to the impending flu then or even due to some allergic manifestations...

You can continue taking Tylenol round the clock (up to thrice daily after some food) for another 2-3 days...

Although, there are no congestion and sore throat, use Betadine gargle 1% (10ml diluted in half a glass of lukewarm water) twice daily for the next few days. Stay away from any direct cold air exposure, overcrowded places for the time being.

Take a bit of steam inhalation thrice daily for the next few days and observe how you stay...

Have plenty of hot beverages (soups, broths, hot menta tea etc.) as they'll work as an immunity booster. Things should be getting better with all these.

If despite following all these, there's no improvement/further worsening of symptoms within a few days, then please get yourself checked up by your doctor as there may be a need to start antibiotics and antiallergics also.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take Care
Kind Regards

another question.

I saw my primary on tuesday. about 2 hours after the appointment I got very achy.

No other symptoms exept the body aches.

This lasted for about 36 hours and then I felt tired but like I was getting better.

Just kind pf dragging.

Now it's the 4th day and I actually feel like im having slight sniffles head cold symptoms and a little run down but nothing like I initially felt.

I have no fever and no sore throat and no gastro symptoms.

I have No health issues.

Bloodwork done about a month ago and was normal.

Wondering what it could be.

Brief Answer:
could be secondary to the flu symptoms already...

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,

Yes, this could be secondary to the flu symptoms. Not to worry, as this should be getting better within a few more days only...

Please take hot showers, drink a lot of fluids, have timely diets throughout the day, you'd be fine. Feel free to ask further.
