I Am 72,male. One Month Ago I Had A Routine

Question: I am 72,male. One month ago I had a routine urinalysis. It showed a trace of blood, but I couldn’t see any blood in urine. Two weeks later (10-22-2019).... it showed the same trace of blood. The blood test showed also “ U WBC 4....U RBC TNTC ... U Mucus. Trace”.....A CT scan of pelvis showed the following....”The liver, spleen, pancreas, adrenal glands, kidneys and left ureter are unremarkable. There is a 2 mm stone in the mid right ureter just below the pelvic brim with mild edematous change in the ureter focally at this level but no hydronephrosis or hydroureter is present......The prostate is enlarged and demonstrates prostatic calcification.”
I saw my urologist and he prescribed the drug “ Flo-max,” ( tamsulosin)...to relax the prostate and said to drink plenty of water to try to flush out the stone. He said to return in one month to have an ultrasound of pelvis and an X-ray of pelvis...
I would like to know if you agree with the treatment as described. I don’t know for sure that the stone is causing the trace of blood in the urine. I take the following pills:
Eliquis—- ( 5 mg) for controlled atrial flutter.
Flecainide ...100 mg - twice a day ... regulate heart rate..
Diltiazem..180 mg...once a day....to control atrial flutter...
Ibuprophen...400 mg... every day..( for back pain)...
Is that too much of a blood thinner???
I’d like to know what you think!!

Brief Answer:
Eliquis—- ( 5 mg) is normal dose as blood thinner

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the facts that you have posted you seem to have Enlarged Prostate and a stone of a size of 2mm in Right Mid Ureter .

The medicine Flow XXXXXXX (Tomsulosin ) is a smooth muscle relaxant which relaxes the smooth muscles in ureter, bladder neck and prostate and helps to dilate the ureter and thereby to pass out the stone with ease and also to improve urine flow .

The dose of Eliquis—- ( 5 mg) is a normal dose being prescribed as a blood thinner .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Dr XXXXXXX
1. Could the stone cause the trace of blood found in the urinalysis?
2. I take 200 mg of ibuprophen every day for neck pain. Would taking ibuprophen AND the Eliquis cause blood trace in urinalysis?
3. How long does it take for stone to pass out of ureter?
4. Will a stone that I have of 2 mm cause much pain from ureter to passing out if penis?

Brief Answer:
Yes stone can cause trace of blood in urine

Detailed Answer:
hello
Thanks for follow up .

1) Stone of a size of 2 mm can cause trace of blood in urine due to friction of a stone against mucosa of ureter causing slight bleeding

2) Ibuprophen and blood thinner can not cause trace i of blood in urine

3) It is difficult t predict precise time that will take to pass out the stone as t entirely depends upon the configuration of stone and degree of impaction of a stone in ureter and edema of the wall of the ureter .

4) Normally stone of a size of 2 mm will pass out with ease however factors mentioned above may cause slight pain while it passes down .

Thanks and Regards.
