Question: How do I discontinue hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg.? My blood pressure is well under control....maybe too low for my age 118/60 and I am being troubled off and on with dehydration and weakness. I have only very minor health problems (old age)

Dear Mrs,

Your blood pressure is not too low for your age, it is normal.
But if you have dehydration problems, it is not good in your age.
For Hydrochlorthyazide withdrawal, at first you can cut the dose by half, take 12.5 mg for some time and see what's happening with your blood pressure and dehydration symptoms.
I would advise you to check blood potassium as well.
But talk to your doctor before reducing the dose.
