Brief Answer: Try home made ORS Detailed Answer: Hi Welcome to Healthcare-Magic Greetings of the day Dear Mr XXXXXXX Its quite common that many baies refuse to take ORS solution. Many babies don't like the taste as it tastes like tears. In that case home made ORS is to be given. Its very important to ensure good intake of ORS and food so that dehydration does not occur. Also babies for too fusy to take normal food when they are having loose motion or are down by fever I would suggest the following 1. Home made ORS: a. Coconut water: its more paltble and is rich inpotassium and other electrolytes b. To a glass of water add 2 spoons of sugar+ pinch of salt + 4-5 drops of lime juice . Feed him as much as possible using watti and spoon c. Continue breast feeding d. Rice water and dhal water 2. Maintain nutrition: Khichdi + curds _ 1 spoon of desi ghee will be good to feed him 3. Probiotics: Syrup Neutrolin B 4 ml twice a day If there is no fever then there is no need of repeating crocin so often. You can give it only twice a day. Usually viral fever lasts for a week. Do not worry the child will be alright. Look for signs of good hydration 1. Oral mucosa and tongue should be moist 2. Urine output should be adequate, atleast 3-4 pampers change per day 3. No irritability 4. On pinching and releasing he skin of forearm it should go back to normal location immediately. 5. Baby is sleeping well Do write to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you. Take Care Best Regards Dr Deepak Kishore MBBS,MS,MCH Consultant Pediatric Surgeon

Hi Doctor, Thank you very much for your valuable advice & support. Today my baby has not got fever so we havnt given crocin till now & passed motion 5-6 times & doctor has adviced to give Enterogermina twice a day. We are giving ORS 1-2 spoon for every 10 min . He had rashes in the back & front too due to passing more motion.. So what can we apply on the rashes? Is it advisable to keep baby in diaper or not when he is having rashes & also to check how many times he is passing motion? And can we give bath & oil massage to him ? And he has teeth (4 up & 2 down) & to avoid pain of teething can we give Gripe water ( Woody's) or any other medicine which you can advice for.. My son is 72 cm in height which is lower than normal height & is it a matter of worry for us. We were giving calcimax & zincovit to him since 9month. So could you please suggest me on this too? Is it necessary to give him XXXXXXX warm water everytime as he is interested in having more normal water. And last but not the least he is very much stuck to mother's feeding instead of taking home made food. So please advice me how to handle him as whenever we give khichdi or oats or chapati & milk etc he wont take more than 4-5 spoons & after that he starts spitiing . As you know if a baby will have proper food at time they will be happy & mother too. Please advice on this I really need that .. Thanks & regards, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer: Himalaya diaper rash cream will help Detailed Answer: Namasthe Dear Mr XXXXXXX Its good to know he is settling down, no fever and decreased frequency of stools. Let me guide you completely what to be done 1. Avoid Diapers , use Cotton pants. Using diapers during loose motion may worsen the rashes. Keep checking the cotton underwears every hour and if there is any staining by urine or stools, change them immediately. 2. Himalaya Diaper rash cream is very effective in preventing and treating rashes. Night time application of Siloderm Ointment will be beneficial. Every time you change the underwear, wipe the area with Himalaya wipes gently without rubbing much and apply Himalaya Diaper rash cream 3. Its advisable to give bath to baby twice and also with oil massage: Using only wipes will not remove stool residue from the area surrounding the anus. Massage with Oil (Mixture of Coconut + Almond + Olive oil 1:1:1 ratio) and local application in the anal region will be beneficial. Use Himalaya nody wash to remove all the residue of oil and also stools. It will be very much relaxing to the baby. 4. Ideally Gripe water or not such substances are not recommended . But it makes many parents feel good if they give it. So you can go ahead and give it. 5. No Nutritional supplements are required by children like Calcimax and zincovit. But during loose motion Zincovit which contains Zinc is beneficial. 6. Boil the water for 20 minutes and cool it to room temperature and give him. Babies do not prefer warm water . Boiling for 20 minutes will have destroyed the bacteria and virus will serve the purpose. Its more advisable to have a RO UV purifier at home if possible. 7. Height of 72 cm is above 5th percentile and there is no cause for concern. Children are definitely pussy and it requires lot of patience on the part of parents and care givers. Keep experimenting what the kid likes. Continue breast feeding for other 6 months if possible. I would also share the following recipe which you can try, your kid will love it. 1.Veg soup: Contents: tomato -2, potato-1small, Onion - 1 small, Carrot-1 small. Preperation: Wash all veggies properly peel potato, onion and carrot. Boil tomato in water for 5 to 6 mins sothat u can see the skin of tomato cracks. Now gently remove skin of tomato. Add tomato and the peeled veggies to a cooker with 1/2 a glass of water. Add pinch of salt and whistle the cooker for 2 to 3 times (veggies shud be cooked well). Now bring it to room temp and blend them in a mixer. Strain the contents to remove any lumps and now boil the soup with cinammon sticks (1or 2piece very small one) added to it. Boil it till it reaches the required consistency and then feed LO. Note:You can add any veggie to make this soup including leafy veggies like spinach, amaranthus, cabbage etc. 2.Pumpkin: Take peeled pumpkin. dice the pumpkin and then presure cook it with little salt. mash well with hands and feed it along with rice or as such. 3.Gourds (any ashgourd, rich gourd etc etc): Make it finger size and then pressure cook it or boil in water till it becomes soft. You can either feed as a finger food or you can mash it and feed it along with rice or as such. 4. Boiled potatos and carrots. Pressure cook well and mash it with hands and add pinch of salt and feed baby as such. 5. Caramalised plums: Peel the plum. Put it on hot tawa and get it caramalised on both sides and then feed it mashed. XXXXXXX also u acn do the same way. 6. Poached pear: peel and pit the pear. Take 1/2 glass of water and add cinammon sticks, grated garlic, cloves etc and bring it to boil. Slip the pears into this boiling fluid and cook until its soft and the fluid is just about to disappear. Now remove all the sticks garlic cloves etc from the fluid and mash the pear in the same fluid and can feed the lo. Its really yumm. And for elders you can add sugar and honey while boiling which makes it a decent desert. 7.Avocado XXXXXXX puree. Take avocado and peeled and diced XXXXXXX in equal qty and grind well in blender. Directly feed the baby. 8.Banana: Ripened banana made to thin long slices. Heat tawa add little butter or olive oil and then saute the banana until its soft. mash and feed. If you wish you can add bit of sugar or honey to this 9.Oats and XXXXXXX breakfast: ground oats and diec XXXXXXX Boil apples until its soft and add ground oats cook until oats is done and a yumm breakfast is raedy. 10.Daal : Cook daal in cooker with salt and curry leaves added to it. Mash it add few drops of ghee and u can feed it either with rice or as such. 11. Wheat porridge 12. Pista/Badam/Khajur halva 13. Boiled egg 14 Omlette Do get back to me if you need any further assistance Wishing you and your family happy and healthy life. God bless us all. Take Care Best Regards Dr Deepak
