How To Cure Nose Discomfort After A Nasal Endoscopy?

Posted on Wed, 1 Oct 2014
Question: Followup question to Dr.Krunal Karade (On basis of my previous questions asked)
I've had my followup visit to doctor on 31Aug14 and he did nasal endoscopy again and said that in both nostrils, there's complete healing. However, he suggested me to use Montek LC and Alerflo nasal spray for another 3 months as this is rainy season and the upcoming is winter. a) Wondering if the medication is really required for 3 months, as I never have had any running nose/sneezing issues in the past and personally would not like to take medication unnecessarily for longer durations. Pls suggest b) Even post surgery, frequently I'm having tiredness and heaviness in my forehead and also at the upper part of my eyeballs (area above and below my eyebrows). I use specs but my eye sight has remained constant for over an year though. What could be the reason for this fatigue and heaviness.

Brief Answer:
I would advice continue nasal sprays.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Thanks for the query.

If I were your treating doctor, I would advice you
Saline nasal spray 2 puff each nostril twice daily like solspre followed by Combination Steroid nasal spray with antihistamine 2 puff each nostril twice daily like AZEFLO nasal spray OR Duonase 70md for 3 month then follow up.

Use warm water gargle 20 mins after steroid nasal spray .

You require to continue nasal spray to avoid recurrence till nasal physiology come to normal even you do not have running nose/sneezing issues.

You can avoid Montek LC but continue Combination Steroid nasal spray with antihistamine.

Tiredness and heaviness in your forehead and at the upper part eyeballs will go with in 3 - 5 month as nose physiology became normal.

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.

I've been using Alerflo nasal spray. Is it a 'combination steroid nasal spray with antihistamine' ?

Brief Answer:
Alerflo is not a combination nasal spray.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for the follow up query.

Alerflo nasal spray is not a combination nasal spray , It contain only fluticasone furoate.
Use Combination Steroid nasal spray with antihistamine like AZEFLO nasal spray (Lupin)OR Duonase nasal spray (cipla) which contain azelastine hydrochloride 140 mcg, fluticasone propionate 50 mcg.

Fluticasone propionate is better than fluticasone furoate.

Use warm water gargle 20 mins after steroid nasal spray .

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.
