Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here..Ive been waking up in the mornings with a chesty cough, rubbish in my throat and nose for months now. Ive had a recent ear infection, which as been cleared with antibiotics, but my ears still feel blocked, i still wake up congested. My GP said i may have allergy to bed mites, and as given me a nasal spray (fluticasone furoate). I have brought new pillows and duvet, but still feel no different..worse in mornings, but I m able to clear rubbish fro my throat anytime of the day? I dont feel this is due to bed mites??

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Your ear problem could be due to nasal stuffiness and cough which could be due to some infective etiology as you are not getting releif with antiallergics. However, some queries you need to answer like: age, smoking or tobacco habits, work environment, any other medical conditions etc.

General Advice:
1. Observe strict oral and respiratory hygiene.
2. Avoid chilled, spicy foods and/or beverages
3. Take steam inhalation possibly with some proprietary medicine meant for inhalation
4. Do nto force too hard to clear nose or throat or chest
Next Step:
1. Consult online here or at your place (recommended)
2. Investigations like, blood counts, chest imaging and audiometry

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Himanshu Dhanak, Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist
