How Should A Viral Exanthem Like Rash On An Infant Be Treated?

Question: My 8 month daughter has a rash. She has no fever or other symptoms. She eats, drinks, plays, talks and sleeps like normal. She has not had a cold or any other symptoms now or recently. There is no rash on palmnof hands or sole of her feet.

The rash is all over body except on palms of hands and soles of feet. It started on her belly.

I can see a blotchy red rash. Seems like a viral exanthem even though she had not had any flu like symptoms. Flu like symptoms may be mild or absent or sometimes they may follow the rash. I suggest you to use a soothing lotion e.g Calamine lotion, 2-3 times a day. This should resolve in a few days.
