Question: My brother got pneumonia 9/30/17 and after a month he seemed cured after being treated with antibiotics. But then t he pneumonia came back again about 6 weeks after. He is now into 3rd week of recovering with antibiotics again and is feeling better and doing some walking and eating a little more. The doctors have him on steroids and antibiotics. How can we know that this time he will be cured?

Brief Answer:
Get done chest x ray.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Pneumonia is lung infection.
It shows infiltration on chest x ray.
So when pneumonia is resolving, lung infiltration also reduces.
So get done repeat chest x ray.
If infiltration is reduced then pneumonia is improving.
If chest x ray is clear then pneumonia is cured.
Please let me know
1. Is he having fever?
2. What is his previous chest x ray report?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better.
I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your brother. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
If you want to confirm that pneumonia is cured then chest x ray is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In your first question, you had put so much emphasis about cure for pneumonia and how we can confirm this.
So if you are want to confirm that his pneumonia is cured then repeat chest x ray is must.
Since he is better and started eating and walking, he is definitely improved from pneumonia.
But chest x ray is must to prove the improvement.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your brother. Thanks.

could someone please help me understand this situation my grandpa is in right now, im really confused about it ? He is 72 years old and has been smoking for a very long time. He also coughs every now and then, he s been told bye several doctors that he has asthma in the past which was the cause for his coughing. He recently did a CAT SCAN and some other x-rays and they came back negitive for asthma, they actually told him he had water in his lungs . He was given medication for it and he was told that the water in his lungs was gone. He went to diffrent doctor and did a CAT SCAN and was told he had some kind of a shadow on his lungs/spot that is really tiny. The Doctor said it was nothing to worry about and that its just a spot left from the time he had lung infection. Now that same doctor is sending him on more tests, so he can find out the cause of this spot on his lungs?? I SPOKE TO HIS DOCTOR AND HE TOLD ME THAT ALL HE SEE S IS A SPOT ON THE LUNGS & HE DOESNT KNOW IF IT COULD TURN INTO ANYTHING SERIOUS - BUT, before i even spoke to him my, sister had told me that the doctor told her that this was some type of a tumor that was really small and that it could be easily taken care of with surgery because its not spreading right now can anyone tell me is it possible that this is not a tumor since not even the doctor know what it is 100%, he said theres a 50% chance that it might be something serious??? i meam hes this cough forever, and he had no other health problems except for this he does not wanna go to the doctors anymore, he eats good he hasnt changed at all. please give me an answer asap ,thanks for you time.

My son and his wife took their baby back to Dr. thought he may have a lung infection so they wanted him x-rayed. The first time they treated him for an ear infection...anyway the x-ray showed 3 broken ribs in the back area, what would cause this??? They are going to their baby Dr on Monday with DHS. I really dont believe it could be child abuse, but it hurts my heart to know he has broken ribs, and as you may imagine my son and daughter-in-law are sick!!!!
