How Is Nasal Endoscopy Done?

default
Posted on Tue, 21 Jul 2015
Question: I was charged 425.00 for a nasal endoscopy
No decongestants or anesthesia sprays used
The scope was not inserted into my nostril - only held at the end of my nostril opening for a couple secs
No tissue samples - no imaging
Is this actually considered a nasal endoscopy ?

Brief Answer:
please contact your doctor again

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX welcome to HCM and thanks for choosing us.

I understand your concerns about your illness. Endoscopy is used for detailed examination of nasal cavities from tip to the nasopharynx (upper part of nasal cavity). It requires much deeper penetration of the endoscopy tube. It is generally done in local anaesthesia. Decongestants are not always needed.

I would advise you to kindly discuss with your doctor again as what procedure was done and what was the outcome.

I hope my reply will help you. Please write to us for more information and any follow up question.

Brief Answer:
I think it may be an incomplete procedure...

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX welcome again.

I have never heard about the endoscopy which can be done without inserting scope into nostrils. Sometimes problem in the nose is visible from nostrils but in that case endoscopy is not needed. In my opinion endoscopy requires insertion of probe into nasal cavity. Therefore I am not sure you had a complete nasal endoscopy. Perhaps you need to change the doctor.

I wish you good luck and better health. Thanks. Please feel free to contact us for more information and follow up queries.
