How Is MRSA Transmitted?

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Jun 2014
Question: Can I be a host carrier of MRSA and spread it to my wife which has severe trauma to the skin which her latest dermatologist says she has MRSA of the skin. She also has lupus. She has had the problem since 2009/10 ever since I spent 3 months in the hospital with MRSA in the spine which I had 3 or 4 major back surgeries and partially paralyzed in my left hand and arm. They really gave me no chance of survival but exposed her to my condition. I show no symptoms of the the sores that she has on her skin but could I still be the carrier of MRSA and give it to her. The dogs have also been diagnosed with MRSP. We can't get answers. Needless to say this problem has ruined our marriage and has financially devastated us. Other doctors than my infectious disease doctors have told me that once I have the MRSA in my bones I can never get rid of it. I only want this one reply for 15.00 and no monthly subscription.
Thank you

Detailed Answer:
Dear sir,

Greetings from health care magic!!! I am Dr Thakker and shall be answering your question.

I can understand your concern and anxiety about MRSA. I will try my best to help you out with it.

You could be a MRSA carrier with nasal colonisation. This is the only way you can spread it to your wife. Your spinal and bone MRSA cannot be directly transmitted unless there is a sinus with discharge and that discharge comes in contact with her.

There is a simple solution for nasal carrier status. You can use mupirocin antibiotic as a topical ointment in the nose twice a day for 5 days. This will eradicate MRSA from your nose. Rules of the website prevent me from prescribing a particular drug. Also you should wash your hands before touching her.

I hope this helps you out. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to write back to me.

Yours sincerely,
Dr Thakker.
