Question: Dear Doc - I would like to know more about SPMF treatment [SPMF® Therapy a technology that delivers highly complex Sequentially Programmed Magnetic Fields, which can be precisely aligned onto the target tissues. These are non-ionizing, non-thermal and have no known side effects thereby enabling it to be a very safe treatment option.] to manage pain for osteoarthritic patients ? I have read about this being offered at SBF Healthcare...The enquiry is for my mother who is 70 years old , with co-morbidity like CABG , CKD . She currently is on pain killers on a daily basis , plus physiotherapy - but that is not helping much (She has mild lumbar canal stenosis + history of hair line fracture of the knee in 2012 ) . Please do advice.

Brief Answer:
SPMF treatment will help her.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
SPMF® Therapy is a well accepted mode of treatment for chronic pain due to inflammation. It has no known side effects except for a sensation of mild heat in the area if used for a longer duration. This can help your mother to reduce the inflammation.
In addition to the pain killers that she is already getting she needs lubricating agents like glucosamine sulfate, chondroitin , dycerin, etc and some life style modifications for relief.
She can start with walking and aerobic fitness exercises, quadriceps strengthening, patellar tapping, lateral heel wedges, etc- under the guidance of her physiotherapist.
A Big No to Stair case, squatting postures, any chair which has a sitting platform lower than the knees.
Knee brace- elastic can also be used for an earlier and prolonged relief.
I hope this answers your query.
