Question: I am a breast cancer patient diagnosed in 2010, had chemo, surgery and radiation. Now on Tamoxefin and baby aspirin daily. I have issues with GAD, OCD, panic disorder. No known allergies. How common is it to develop allergy and anaphylaxis from food and medication. I had stopped taking my medications fearing to get an anaphylactic reaction. Can I develop it from food that I use to eat as well.

Brief Answer:
Such an allergy is Not common.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney.
I understand your concern.
You are worried unnecessarily. You can not stop eating food and taking necessary medications just with fear of getting anaphylactic reactions.
If you are known to have allergy with some particular medicine or food like eggs then only you have to avoid them.
Moreover if you have been taking Tamoxifen for long , you won't get any anaphylactic reactions to it.
Stop worrying unnecessarily.
Food and necessary medications are required for you for a good health.
I hope it helps
If you have any further query, please ask me.

Ok but I read that it is not necessarily to be allergic to certain food. You can eat rise normally and suddenly you get anaphylaxis from rise. Is that true??

As well I read that some medications your immune system will develop defense against them through time, and hence can cause anaphylaxis later on.

I know I can't stop eating, but I would like to know:
1. Does anaphylaxis happen suddenly all symptoms together or gradually.
2. How do I know it is a moderate reaction and not sever. Does it start sever?
3. Are there any tests to show what foods I am allergic to. Blood tests, not skin prick
4. I have never had allergy from food, but I eat egg and potato allot, and apple, could that develop a problem
