Brief Answer:
Treatment of colitis depends on cause

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank You for trusting HealthcareMagic

Colitis is inflammation of the colon(large intestine). There are several causes for colitis like infection including c.difficle, inflammatory bowel disease like chron's and ulcerative colitis, allergy etc.
Treatment depends on the cause of the colitis.
Imodium just gives symptomatic relief for diarrhea, but do not treat the underlying colitis.
Metronidazole is an antibiotic, that is used in the treatment of both Infectious and Inflammatory colitis.

Please provide me further information regarding your diagnosis and specific type of colitis, so that I can give you detailed answer regarding treatment options.

Awaiting,
Dr.Lekshmi
