Hello I Just Received My MRI Results And Do Not

Question: Hello I just received my MRI results and do not understand what it means I’m scheduled for a myomectomy on XXXXXXX 10th.

Findings : retroverted uterus measures 10.4 x 7.0 x 8.0 cm.
Normal appearance and thickness of the endometrial canal.
Diffuse junctional zone thickening anterior and posterior to the endometrial canal although much more prominent ( series 105, image 20). Findings are more suggestive of Adenomyosis rather than ill-defined fibroids. Maximal thickening along the anterior aspect of the junctional zone measures 25 mm and 43 mm posteriorly. This slightly distorts the endometrial canal although the canal remains patent.

Intramural fibroid at the anterior aspect of the mid uterus which measures 4.3 x 3.0 x 3.0 cm ( series 105, image 22) No significant internal enhancement is noted on the postcontrast images. Mild increased T1 signal is seen within the fibroid which suggest there may be some internal hemorrhagic contents. No compression on the endometrial canal.

Normal appearance of the right and left ovaries. A simple 1.8 cm follicular cyst is seen within the right ovary (series 105, image 16) No right or left adnexal mass detected. Trace fluid within the pelvis. Normal appearance of the bladder. No enlarged pelvic lymph nodes. Bowel loops are remarkable.
Abdomen XRay says:
Nonspecific bowel has pattern. No urinary tract stones. Subcentimeter pelvic phleboliths. 4.7 calcified uterine fibroid on the right side of the true pelvis.

Brief Answer:
It’s a benign( non cancerous) condition

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have gone through your reports and I can understand your concerns.
The given report suggests the presence of a benign( non cancerous) condition called adenomyosis.
Adenomyosis is a condition where the cells of the uterine lining grow into the muscular wall of the uterus. There is small fibroids also in your uterus.
Nothing much to worry as it is not a cancerous or precancerous condition.
Myomectomy is the treatment of choice and your treatment is in the right track.
Wishing all the best
