Hello, I Am 20 Years Old Several Blood Test Have
Question: Hello, I am 20 years old several blood test have shown that I have high blood calcium consistent at 10.3, this is also with symptoms of fatigue, hypertension and heart palpalpitations, i have had both an ekg and echocardiogram and cardiologist said my heart was fine but after doing my own research I suspect I may have hyperparathyroidsm, do you think this is worth looking into. Thank you

First you would want to confirm it was actually elevated by checking albumin and/or ionized calcium. If it is truly elevated, a PTH (parathyroid hormone) level should be checked, as primary hyperparathyroidism is fairly common and would be the most likely diagnosis. There are also genetic conditions that cause decreased excretion of calcium in the urine, and a urine collection to check urine calcium levels may also be checked.
Neither condition is serious, but you should be monitored if you do have hyperparathyroidism, and especially if you develop any complications from the condition, such as decreased bone density or decreasing kidney function, surgery would typically be considered to remove the parathyroid glands.
