Question: Hello Doctor, Since last 15 days I am suffering from a fungal infection on the inner side of my thighs. I tried with ketoconazole 2% and took oral cetirizine 10mg. But it didn't help. The infection is still there. I think its a case of ringworm. I am attaching the images in the question. Please check the reports section. Waiting for your assistance, Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Tinea cruris

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service.
I have reviewed your query and viewed the image.

Yes, it is a fungal infection - tinea cruris. I suggest you to take an oral antifungal e.g either Terbinafine or Itraconazole for 2- 4 weeks under guidance of your dermatologist. In addition I suggest you to apply either luliconazole cream or Amorolfine cream, twice daily for 2-4 weeks

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.

Thank you, doctor, for your advice. Would you recommend any antifungal powder to keep this area dry? What is the frequency of taking these tabs (Terbinafine or Itraconazole)?

Brief Answer:
Regarding fungal infection

Detailed Answer:
hi.

You may use an antifungal dusting powder e.g clotrimazole dusting powder(Abzorb) in addition to the antifungal cream particularly if the weather in your area is hot and humid. Oral antifungal need to be taken once daily for 2 - 4 weeks. In addition I would also suggest an oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10mg tablet once a day for symptomatic relief from itching.

Hope I have answered your query.
