Hi, My wife had a flu shot and a pnemonia shot last September and has been sick with stomach issues since, upset stomach, nausia, acid reflux and others things. We are getting very concerned about this and since September she has lost about 20 pounds. She is not very hungry and many foods make the symptoms worse. She has tried prilosec, tums and a number of things to calm her stomach down but the nausia and acid reflux keep coming back. We were told that it may be h-pilori causing this and she is now trying cat's claw, oregon grape, licorice (DGL), PB 8 pro-biotic acidophilus and her symptom seem a little better. She has tried this before but it does not go away and keeps coming back. She is allergic to penicillan. Please advise and if you can prescribe something would really appreciate it. Thank you very much. XXXXXXX

Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for using XXXXXXX

1. H/o Stomach issues since september, upset stomach, nausea, acid reflux and loosing weight.
These may be due to GERD, H Pylori or due to ulcer.
Get done one endoscopy to visualize the problem what she has and other investigations like USG abdomen and pelvis, complete hemogram, LFT, RFT and blood sugar level to rule out any other disease.

2. For GERD, ask her to take food at multiple intervals (atleast every 3 hour once), food XXXXXXX in fibre like pulses, green leafy vegitables will be good. Ask her to have adequate regular sleep with head end raised, plenty of fluids with nutritious fibre diet with required calorie, half an hour walk before going to bed and regular outdoor exercises. Avoid coffee and tea. She should take proton pump inhibitor like pantoprazole continuously for 15 days to a month and during reflux pain can get mucaine gel syrup to prevent pain.

3. If H Pylori she can take HP kit for management without cap amoxicillin and ampicillin since she is allergic to penicillins.

4. Continue probiotics, take lot of yogurt and curd.

Hope I answered your question. Consult your doctor for further complete management with the above investigations. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries. If you got the query answered kindly rate it and close the query.
Wish you and your wife good health. Take care.
