Fungal Infection In Toe Nails. Permanent Solution?

Question: hi fungus in both big toe nails, had problem for 2/3 years, nothing seems to work quickly enough.

Hello.

Thanks for your query.

Nail infectiosn especially fungal are chronic in nature.

Nail once affected by fungus cannot be cured, only the new nail coming from beneath can be prevented from being affected.

The antifungals act on the nail matrix and prevents the nail to get infected. The course of antifungals should last till all the affected nail which is usually XXXXXXX to black in color has been removed.

It takes around 6 months for hand nails and one year for the toe nails to get free from the fungal infection. If the treatment is stopped in between, the normal nail again gets infected from the affected nail.
