Brief Answer:
Protein supplements are relatively safe to take.

Detailed Answer:
Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern.
Protein supplementation is relatively safe however it should be avoided in presence of kidney disease as the total intake of protein has to be reduced to prevent further damage.
Side effects are minimal with protein supplements.
Protein powder should not contain a host of other additives or preservatives. It should not contain steroids or growth factors which may have an adverse impact on the functioning of the heart and kidneys.

Hope this answers your query. If you have any follow up query, please feel free to ask.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
There is no need to reduce your weight.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Chandna, Hi & Welcome back.
Thanks for your reply, noted its contents.
Owing to my busy schedule I was not able to reply your query.

Based on your body weight and height, your calculated BMI is 23.62 kg/m2 and it is within the normal range of 18.5kg - 25 kg/m2.

So, in my opinion there is no need to reduce your weight.

Since you have problem with your liver (fatty liver), so it is not advisable for you to take protein supplements or powder as they may be harmful to your liver.

In view of the above, I would advise you to:

1. Healthy balanced diet preferable home cooked food.
2. Increase the intake of fruits, vegetables.
3. Avoid fatty meals, fast and junk foods, whole fat milk and other dairy products such as ice creams, cheese, butter, etc.
4. Avoid alcohol and smoking (if you are using)
5. Do regular exercise while is beneficial in losing some body weight and keep you healthy and fit.

Hope the advice given above would be useful.

Wishing you best of your health.
