Does Leg Pain And Swelling Indicate Plantar Fasciitis?

Question: Hello, My father is 78 years old and lives alone. Recently he has complained that his feet hurt him at the heels and up the back of the legs. He has some swelling and they are sensitive to the touch. We have tried different shoes, soaking his feet and elevating them. He believes it his the muscles or tendons to his heels but we do not know what this might be caused from. He is very active and healthy only taking a blood pressure pill. I don't even know what type of doctor to make an appointment with for him or if he needs one. Any idea's that will help will be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the query,

He could be having Plantar fasciitis. The Orthopedician seems an appropriate speciality for this.

It would be advisable to get am Xray to look for bony problems in the heel like a Calcaneal spur, Haglund deformity etc.

Please do get the Xray of the affected side lateral view of the heel bone or calcaneum and upload for my reference after which I can suggest the appropriate management.
