Brief Answer:
Yes St. John's wort can interfer with your necessary durgs

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

St. John's wort is a plant Hypericum perforatum. This herb is often used as an antidepressant. But due to its chemical composition( arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase inhibitor and COX-1 inhibitor) it causes many drug drug interaction. It can decrease efficacy of lipitor and your cholesterlol level may be increased. It can reduce effectiveness of placid also.

And for your information St. John's wort is not approved therapy for depression by FDA.

If I were your treating doctor/psychiatrist I would not prefer St. John's wort at all.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
