Does Desitin Help In Treating Painful Rash On Buttocks?

Posted on Fri, 13 Mar 2015
Question: I'm a 55 year old female with a problem of urine leakage when I cough, sneeze, etc. I've developed a rash - red, burns and very sore (reminds me of when my daughters were babies and occasionally got diaper rash). My question is: will using a Desitin type ointment help ME as it helped my daughters?

Brief Answer:
Yes, also practice pelvic floor exercises

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
Desitin maximum strength original paste would help you feel better.
The leakage of urine while coughing and straining is due to a weak pelvic floor. You should learn and do pelvic floor exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor and that will cure your problem in most cases.
If not you should seek medical help.
Take care,
Dr Noble Zachariah
