Do Cortisone Shots Help In Treating Severe Wrist Pain?

default
Posted on Tue, 27 Sep 2016
Question: Hello I have had wrist pain for the past 4 months. The onset started after working out at the gym. I did not injure my wrist but the pain just oddly began. I had an xray and mri. I have seen 2 different doctors and the last said I had arthriris. Is there any natural solutions to help me or is the anti-inflammatory medicine my only solution. Do you think cortisone shots will help any eliminate the necessity for pill taking? Incidently, when I take 75 mg of indocine daily the pain is relieved about 70 percent. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Steroid shot may have side effects

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

Yes, Intra-articular steroid shot will definitely give relief for few months and you may not need to take anti inflammatory pills atleast often.

But side effects of steroid injection include rise in blood pressure which can get affected some you are on antihypertensive medication.

Physiotherapy, ultrasound therapy, local heat application will help as well. In some cases, your symptoms can subside if proper care is taken.

If possible, do upload your Xray and MRI Reports for my review and further comment on your prognosis.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
