Can The Dosage Of Seroquel Be Reduced While On Abilify?

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Feb 2017
Question: I am taking 500 g of Seroquel and 15 g of Abilify. Can I reduce the amount of Seroquel I take? I'm 66 years old. I've heard that taking the two drugs has a synergistic result. Also reducing the amount of Abilify I've researched can lead to tardive dyskinesia. Can the same thing happen when reducing Seroquel when it is used in combination with Abilify?

Correction: I am taking 500 mg of Seroquel and 15 mg of Abilify.

Brief Answer:
No need to reduce

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.

I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
The combination of Seroquel 500mg and Abilify 15mg is safe and very effective. You need not consider reducing it unless there is some side-effect.They do hep here but there is no major intercation between them to regulate either of the doses.
Tardive dyskinesia can occur while you are on the medicines and rarely occurs while reducing it.

There is a very rare risk associated with Tardive Dyskinesia with abilify and the risk is much much lesser with seroquel.
The bottom line is : If you have no issues at present, no need to reduce the doses.

Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
