Question: Can seizures occur in feingold syndrome?

Feingold syndrome is a rare genetic disease of autosomal domitant inheritance. Less than 100 patients have been reported worldwide. There are several problems reported in Feingold syndrome, but you would be pleased to know that seizures have not been reported in this syndrome.
Common manifestations include microcephaly (small head), limb malformations (short fingers/thumb; fusion of toes), learning disability or mental retardation. Esophageal, duodenal and anal atresia have rarely been reported. Some children can have deafness.
In your child's case, it is possible that she has seizures unrelated to Feingold syndrome. MRI brain and EEG would help us in making the diagnosis. However, vasovagal syncope should still be thought of as an alternative diagnosis, as all the episodes occurred in the hospital. Wet hands and feet (suggestive of sweating) would also favour a diagnosis of syncope.
