Can Prenatal Tablets Taken During Pregnancy Cause Bleeding?

default
Posted on Wed, 15 Jul 2015
Question: Hi my wife is 12 weeks pregnant. We haven't had any intercourse since pregnancy. She is taking 'One a day, Prenatal tablets with DHA' since last night. She started bleeding today evening and as per Doc's advise she took a Geston 100 MG shot. Is this problem anyway related to the prenatal tablets? What caused this problem? Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Precautions advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, I understand your anxiety related to the issue.
It is not good to have this bleeding and thus should not be taken lightly.
Take full bed rest for at least 2 days, avoid having sexual contact with your partner and take good sleep.
Start tablet duphaston 10 mg thrice a day for one week and then twice a day for 4 weeks after consulting your doctor.
In case cramping occurs or there is any excessive discharge or bleeding per vaginum then visit your gynecologist for examination at the earliest.
Most likely these are not related to any ontoward event and definitely not due to prenatal vitamins.
After rest of 2 days in case she syays fine then get an ultrasound done to see for heartbeat of the baby.
Take care
