Question: MY QUESTION TO DR.V P Y K XXXXXXX .. IAM XXXXXXX . 56YEARS MY MOTHER IS HAVING LYMPHEDEMA OF RT LEG.CAN SHE USE PNEUMATIC COMPRESSION DEVICE?KINDLY SUGGEST.

Lymphedema especially grade 1 and 2 respond dramatically to intermittent pneumatic compression device/IPCD.

But you have to make sure that there is no active infection of the involved region of the leg.

Ulcerations have to be ruled out before using IPCD.

Also the graded pressure usually applied in the range of 60-80 mm of hg for one hour 3 times a day for 3-6 months.

This regime is usually scheduled under the expert guidance of a plastic surgeon.

So, I advise you to have a consultation with a plastic surgeon to determine the grade of lymphedema.
