Can Xifaxan Be Taken When Suffering From Supraventricular Tachycardia?

Question: My doc prescribed Xifaxan, but I see in the side effects rapid breathing is possible. I suffer from SVT so should I not take Xifaxan?

Shortness of breath is noted as a side effect in the listing of possible effects in the respiratory system (lungs and upper airways).

Shortness of breath does not necessarily indicate that there is a heart related problem.

There are no reported effects on heart rate in the side effect profile so it is not known to cause arrhythmias (abnormal heart rates or rhythms).

Because it is not known to affect the heart and unlikely to aggravate your SVT, you can still consider using it but if you still have concerns then you should speak to your doctor.
