Can Primolut N Act As A Contraceptive?

Question: Hi, I've been taking the minipill 4 weeks after giving birth and started bleeding 2 weeks after that, and it did not stop the dr. gave me primolut n to take 4 pills daily for one week, 3 pills daily for 1 week and 2 pills daily for another week then to start the XXXXXXX pill again on the first day of my regular period. Will the primolut n act as a birth controll? and will it affect breastfeeding alot?

Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Primolut N contains only norethisterone. It will not act as a contraceptive. After your regular period, when you will start with minipill then only the contraception will be effective. You will have use an additional condom to protect yourself from pregnancy till then. Taking Primolut N can decrease the milk production to some extent but right now you need it to stop the bleeding.
