Can Levofloxacin Be Taken Along With Antihypertensive Medication?

Posted on Tue, 24 Jan 2017
Question: I WENT TO A PA and told her I had awoken one night with a severe sharp pain in my right testical that shot down my leg. After I moved around the pain subsided and got less over the next few days but I still have residual discomfort. She did a testicular exam and it caused me pain in both testicals. She scheduled a ultrasound and put me on levoxcil. She also found my blood pressure was high and prescribed Lisinopril-hctz for for the high blood pressure. I have readthat it is not good to mix blood pressure medicine with levoxcil. Also I have never had high blood pressure before and I saw another doctor for bronchitis a few weeks before this and an eye doctor since this appointment and in both cases my blood pressure was normal. Is one high blood pressure reading enough to diagnose high blood pressure?

Brief Answer:
Three readings should be taken on three consecutive days manually!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Firstly thanks for choosing health care magic for your query!

Blood pressure should be recorded three times in three consecutive days manually by the doctor in both arms and if average reading of three consecutive days is more then normal ,then it is termed as hypertension.

Secondarily according to XXXXXXX college of cardiology hypertension is classified as-
Classification     Systolic BP (mmHg)     Diastolic BP (mmHg)
Normal      <120      And <80
Prehypertension      120-139     Or 80-89
Stage 1 hypertension     140-159     Or 90-99
Stage 2 hypertension     ≥160     Or ≥100

So please check your blood pressure levels according to this chart as medical treatment is started only in stage 1 hypertension
.Prehypertensive phase can be reverted back to normal by life style modification.
Thirdly transient increase in blood pressure can be because of pain in testicles,so i would recommend you to repeat the readings again before starting medicines.

Please mention the salt in levoxeil ,so that i can give you a briefing about its interaction with antihypertensive medication!

In case you need any other help ,feel free to ask!
Thanks
