Brief Answer:
Exclusive breast feeding on demand till 6 months

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear XXXX

Baby has to be exclusively breast feed till 6 months of age. This means that not even a drop of water is to be given. Gripe water is usually advised by many of the grand mothers and some of the Pediatrician for treating colic of infants. There is no documented advantage of giving it. Some of the gripe water may even contain alcohol.

The constituent of mother milk is perfectly suited to take care of nutritional and water requirement of baby. Even if the external temperature is hot, the body of the mother adjusts the composition of milk accordingly. Giving anything externally is one of the common cause for infective diarrhoea .
I would not recommend anything to be given to the baby externally. Mother's milk is equivalent to nectar for the baby, it contains many protective contents which protect against many disease
