Shingles

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your concern and I have understood it.

I would keep a possibility of Herpetc Associated Neuralgia (HAN). Shingles is characterized by painful, fluid filled vesicles, usually localized to a particular area only. The lesions usually resolve within a week or 10 days.

Yes, Hydrocodone can be taken for pain.

Along with that, I would suggest that you take an oral antiviral e.g either Acyclovir, Valacyclovir Or Famciclovir as well. Since pain of shingles can last well past the lesions have healed. Therefore, the earlier the antiviral medication is taken (WITHIN FIRST 72 HOURS), the better the chance of stopping the virus from causing more damage to the nerves. Early treatment with antiviral medication can lessen the intensity and duration of shingles pain.
