Brief Answer:
Barrier methods-effective, window period-3 months

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

barrier method of contraception is 100% effective in preventing transmission of HIV infection via sexual route.
However, other body fluids like saliva are also source of infection.
Deep kissing can transmit HIV infection if the other person is infected with HIV infection.
The window period for HIV infection is 3 months.
This implies that HIV test should be done after exposure and i negative should be repeated after 3 months.
If HIV test comes out to be negative after 3 months, HIV infection can be ruled for all practical purposes.

If you have more queries, I will be glad to answer.

Brief Answer:
Cuts and open sores can transmit HIV infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,

Yes, that is right that saliva does not carry HIV infection, however, in case there are cuts or open sores on oral mucosa or skin, the infection can be transmitted by deep kissing.
In these cases it is the blood which is infected and blood is known to transmit HIV infection.
The reports posted by you are non-reactive i.e. negative.

Thanks and take care

Brief Answer:
No patient of HIV seen with h/o deep kissing

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
I my experience (in patients in ART-antiretroviral treatment center), I have not seen cases with only history of deep kissing.
Majority of patients I have seen are due to unsafe sexual behavior, spouses of the people with unsafe behavior and children of these couples infected by perinatal transmission.

Thanks and take care
