default
Posted on Fri, 17 Jul 2015
Question: I had unprotected vaginal intercourse on 6th XXXXXXX First unprotected exposure. Girl has had multiple partners but claims to be clean . She got a rapid HIV antibody 1/2 test on day 3 after our exposure which turned back to be negative (she claims her last sex was in February but I'm not entirely convinced ) I took an HIV rna test on day 10, the gen probe aptima HIV 1/2 test. It came back not detected ! I have no symptoms as such and I'm uncircumcised!
How much can I rely on that result ?
Planning to take duo test on day 28

Brief Answer:
Least chances of infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Welcome to Healthcare magic,

As your HIV RNA test on day 10 is negative and girls HIV antibody test is negative after three month (Window period), as last sexual encounter was in February then there is very less chances of HIV infection.

HIV RNA test as it is an antigen detection test which is conclusive even in earlier period post exposure by 2-3 weeks.

DUO test that looks for antibodies for HIV-1 and HIV-2 and also looks for the evidence of P24 antigen. GO for it to satisfy your doubt,

Hope this will help you.
Thanks
